| The Friends of the Ajax Public Library is a nonprofit, charitable organization. The purpose of the Friends is to foster public awareness, understanding and enjoyment of library services in the Town of Ajax. The Friends raise funds, support special projects, and enhance library services. |
| What does being a Friend mean? |
|
 Being a Friend means knowing that you are making a real contribution to ensure that your Library remains a vital presence in the community. As a Friend you will also receive:
- Invitation to Friends events
- A membership newsletter
- Voting privileges at the Annual General Meeting
To join the Friends simply print off the membership form and mail it with your payment to the Friends of the Ajax Public Library or drop it off at your local Library branch. Not only will you be supporting your local library but you will be joining one of over 100 Friends groups that have been identified across Canada. FOCAL is a national "grass roots" association committed to providing leadership, motivation and support to all Friends groups in their efforts to preserve and strengthen libraries and create awareness and appreciation of library services. The Friends are currently looking for new members with a desire to take on a committee role. Currently we have an opening for a Treasurer. Please contact Val at 905-683-4588 if you would like to step up and help out.

 Special thanks to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 322 Ajax. Emma Smith, 3rd Vice President of the Legion recently presented a cheque for $10,000 to the Friends. This donation is part of the Million Dollar Capital Fund and brings the total contribution from the Legion to $90,000.

 Please join us in thanking and congratulating The Friends of the Ajax Public Library for their outstanding service to our community. Their hard work and support were officially recognized with the Arts & Culture Community Award with which they were presented on April 22, 2010 by the Council of the Town of Ajax.

Ajax Film Circuit

 The Ajax Film Circuit will return on September 8th for another exciting season. Look for a return of our popular Season Pass. The passes will be on sale at the Main Branch beginning August 3rd at the same great price of $48 for all 8 movies!
Mark your calendar for the 2010/2011 Film Circuit dates: September 8, October 13, November 10, January 12, February 9, March 9, April 13 and May 11.
The Ajax Film Circuit is a project of the Friends of the Ajax Public Library in conjunction with the Toronto International Film Festival Group. Films are open to all!
