Range Line Road Environmental AssessmentOn May 15, 2006, the Town's Community Affairs & Planning Committee (CAP) addressed concerns raised by residents of Range Line Road. These concerns included traffic volume, speeding, the amount of cut-through traffic, pedestrian safety, the community's desire for traffic calming along the road and the need for a comprehensive solution. In response to these concerns, Council passed a resolution for Town staff to initiate an Environmental Assessment (EA) for traffic calming measures along Range Line Road. In addition, staff were further directed to prepare a Request for Proposal and undertake the project. IBI Group was retained by the Town on September 7, 2006 to undertake a Schedule B Municipal Class EA for the implementation of traffic calming measures on Range Line Road. The purpose of the EA was to balance the primary function of the road as a Type 'C' Arterial, as defined in the Town's and Region's Official Plans with the local residents. Town Staff has recommended to Council a preferred plan which consists of physical measures throughout the corridor. The preferred plan was presented to CAP on June 4, 2007. IBI Group is expected to complete the final report for the EA by June 30, 2007. Advertisement of the Notice of Completion for the EA is anticipated by the end of June or early July 2007. The detailed design and tender documents for the full plan is expected to be completed by IBI Group by the end of August 2007.
