Map Tool Bar

Imagery On/Off Icon 
Imagery On/Off – A digital Air Photo (or orthophotography) is available on some of the map tabs.  If this button is pressed, you can turn the imagery on or off if you are at a scale between 1:2000 and 1:20,000.

Full Extent Icon
Full Extent -  Click on this button to take the map display to the full extent of the Town.

Zoom In IconZoom Out Icon
 Zoom In/Out - To zoom in/out on the map, click on the “zoom in” or "zoom out" button.  Either click on the map for a gradual zoom in/out or click on your left mouse button to create a zoom in/out box round your area of interest.

Zoom Bar Tool
You can also zoom in and out using this tool located at the bottom left hand corner of the Map Viewer tool.  Click on the "+" or "-" to zoom in or out or click on the bar.

Pan Icon
Pan - The pan icon provides the ability to move the map view in any direction.  Click on the map, hold the left mouse button and drag “the hand” in the required direction.  You can also pan by using the “North”, “South”, “East” and “West” arrows.

Information Icon
Information - This tool displays information associated with a selected feature.  Click on the “info” button and then click on the feature of interest.  The “More Information” box will open and the default layer's information is presented.  If you are interested in another features/layers information, choose that layer from the drop down list.

Clear Selections Icon
Clear Selections - To unselect features use the “clear selections” icon (features are selected when using such tools as "Measure" and "Add My Point").

Previous Map Icon
Previous Map - By clicking on this button, Map Viewer will go back to the previous map view.

Print Icon
Print Map - This will enable you to print the map in either Landscape or Portrait format.

Legend Icon
Legend - Click on the “legend” button to display the map's legend/list of map layers.

Overview Map Icon
Overview Map - By clicking on the “overview map” button, a smaller map window opens and shows your current map view within the context of the entire Town.

Measure Icon
Measure - There are several measuring tools available, including:  calculate area, length and coordinates.  Click on the “measure" button.  Select from a list of measuring types including:  measure area, measure length or show coordinates.  Select from a list of units, including metres, feet, yards, kilometres and hectares. Click on the ends/corners of the item you wish to measure.

Add My Point Icon
Add My Point - This button allows the user to provide notes to a point on the map.  Click on the “add my point” icon.  Choose the font type and size from the pull down menu.  Type in your text, click on the “apply” button, and click on the map where you want this text to appear.
