Ajax Arts Festival"The Town of Ajax launched its first Festival of the Arts from May 28 - 31, 2008. The Pickering Community Concert Band kicked off the Festival with a performance at Town Hall's Heritage Square. In the days to follow, StoneCircle Theatre presented a Play Development Series, in addition to visual art displays by Ajax Creative Arts and the Ajax Rughookers Guild. The final day of the Festival was a celebration of Arts in Ajax, which included a Main Stage Series, featuring a variety of musical and dance performances. The KRE8IVE Kids Zone featured a number of activities for children including giant mural creation, face painting, storytelling by the Durham Folklore Society, cart rides by the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of Ontario, and a number of make & take craft projects. In addition, there were buskers and street performers, the Writer's Circle of Durham, an Anime workshop, an Artisan's Marketplace and more! The Cultural Expressions Gallery also held an Open House during the Festival and hosted demonstrations by artists Dorsey James, Alpheus Jones and Elena Baker, as well as performances by ACTS, an African Jazz Groove Band."
"Our thanks go out to the entire Steering Committee for their dedication, hard work and passion in helping to deliver Ajax's inaugural Festival of the Arts.
