Photo ContestA photograph, shot by Ajax resident John Vu, entitled "Waterplay", was named Best in Show in this year’s Town of Ajax and Black’s Superstore Amateur Photography Contest. The winning photograph, was also the winner of the "People in Motion; People at Play" category.
More than 960 photographs were submitted, a 50 per cent increase from last years entries. The three jurors, Fred Sewell, Gord MacLean (Oshawa Camera Club) and Michael Nowak (Black’s Superstore), were very impressed with the quality of the submissions.
Winning and honourable mention photographs will be on display at the McLean Community Centre (95 Magill Drive) from September 8 to October 27, 2008. A reception will be held on September 16 at 7 p.m at the MCC to present the first place winners for each photo category with their prizes.
The contest is sponsored by Black’s Superstore in Ajax and the News Advertiser. Prizes are supplied by Amplis, Gentec, Panasonic, Nikon, Olympus, Lowepro, Pentax, Samsung and Black’s Superstore.
