Official Plan Review

A phased review of the Town’s Official Plan, known as "Ajax FORWARD", is underway to update the planning principles and policies that will determine how physical development occurs in Ajax over the next 20 years.

The existing Urban Area Boundary and the protected rural countryside within the Province’s Greenbelt Area will not be changed during this review. The Ajax FORWARD initiative is divided into three sub-initiatives: Environment, Transportation and Quality Places. For more information on each sub-initiative, click on the buttons below:

Senior Government Initiatives

In Phase 2, the Ajax Official Plan will be amended to reflect various plans, policies, and requirements of senior levels of government, including:

• Amendments to the Provincial Planning Act
• Durham Regional Official Plan, 2008
• Provincial Greenbelt Plan, 2005
• Provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe
• Provincial Policy Statement, 2005
