Community conversations events:
fostering positive relationships between neighbours

How well do you know your neighbours? As an active community, there are not many opportunities for residents in each neighbourhood to get to know each other.

Busy lifestyles consumed with family responsibilities and commuting can prevent important community conversations from taking place.

To engage residents in community conversations, the Town is committed to hosting various neighbourhood barbeques on an annual basis. Identified as a key strategy of the Community Safety Strategy, this initiative aims to build a strong sense of community and foster positive relationships between residents throughout different neighbourhoods in Ajax.

Four community conversation events were hosted by the Town in 2009 at Hermitage Park (Ward 1), Imagination Park (Ward 2), Monarch Mews (Ward 3) and Lord Durham Park (Ward 4).

If you would like to see a Town sponsored barbeque held in your neighbourhood and know of residents in your area willing to help, please contact:

Andrew Norris
Community Development Coordinator
Phone: 905-619-2529, ext. 7248
E-mail: andrew.norris@townofajax.com

The Town will supply the barbeque supplies and will work with neighbourhood residents to develop additional activities for the event.
