Tree, Bench and Picnic Table Dedication Program

You can dedicate a tree, bench or picnic table at our waterfront to a loved one. Your special gift of a tree will take its place as an important part of its natural surroundings, making its contribution to the beauty of the parkland, shelter for wildlife and purity of the air we breathe. Your special gift of a memorial park bench will provide a rest area for those to enjoy the beauty of our waterfront. Your special gift of a memorial picnic table will provide a place for families to gather and enjoy the beauty of our waterfront. Dedications are done twice a year, in late spring and in the fall.

Prices are $300 for a tree, $400 for a bench and $500 for a picnic table. The cost includes installation, and plaque with information about the dedication. Our Dedication brochure (PDF format) includes an application form and further details.

Honouring those who built the foundations of Ajax

To recognize the services of past Ajax Council and senior staff, the Town has been planting trees in their honour along its waterfront for a number of years.

Those who have been honoured, and the order in which they’ve been selected, has been based on the Town’s ability to track down family members so they can attend and participate in the tree planting ceremony. However, the process is becoming more difficult to locate family members and the Town is calling on its residents to help locate family members of the following individuals for future tree plantings:

Ajax Environmental Affairs Week and community clean ups

Each spring, we organize Ajax Environmental Affairs Week to focus attention on the environment with lakefront activities and clean ups. Community groups are invited to select a park, empty lot, or other area to clean up winter litter and other debris. If your effort is registered with us, we will drop off garbage bags and gloves for you, and arrange for pick up of the litter afterward. While Environmental Affairs Week is in the spring, you can register your clean up and get our assistance at any time of year. See our Environmental Affairs Week section.
