General Pool Health & Safety Rules
- In order to swim in the deep end, you must be able to swim two widths of the pool with your face in the water.
- Infants and strollers are not permitted on the pool deck. Please inquire about our daytime babysitting services.
- Bare feet & pools shoes only are permitted on the pool deck. Please ensure you put your shoes on when walking in the lobby, leaving the building etc. No outdoor shoes are permitted on deck.
- Bathing suits only must be worn on the pool deck and in the pool. Please ensure you have street clothes for walking in the lobby, leaving the building etc.
- Disposable diapers are NOT permitted in our pools. Please have children wear Gabby pants, bathing suits, or "Little Swimmers." Gabby pants are for sale at MCC and Little Swimmer are available for purchase at ACC
- In order to go down the slide, you must be able to swim one strong width of the pool each time you come swimming ( At the discretion of the Lifeguard)
- Children must be toilet trained to use the whirlpool
- Persons with open sores or a communicable disease will not be admitted to any aquatic program unless a medical certificate is provided
Children’s Age Guidelines
- Children 3 & under are admitted free and must be accompanied by a paying adult.
- Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult. For safety reasons, a maximum of 3 children per adult please. Please supervise children at all times ( at arm’s reach) in the water.
- Children 6 & 7 years must also be accompanied by an adult, and are under the direct supervision of that person. Maximum 6 children /adult. Adult must be in a bathing suit and be able to assist child if needed. Adult must be in the water.
- Children 8 & 9 years of age are permitted to swim alone, however and adult must be on the premises at all times, as recommended by the Durham Health Department and the Children’s Aid Society. Children must also be 48" tall and able to swim one width of the pool.
- Children 10 years and older are permitted to swim alone without an adult on the premises.
Safe and Secure
Lock up your Belongings - Day lockers are available for your use in the pool changerooms. Bring a lock or rent one from the front desk.
Changeroom Guidelines
Adults are asked to utilize the Family Changeroom with children of the opposite sex, who are 3 years of age and over. All other members of the public use the appropriate male or female changerooms.
