Job Title:  administrative assistant - HR  Services
                                 (regular part time)
Department: Human Resource Services
Job Description: You will provide front-line customer service, assist and support the department, and manage monthly attendance and sick leave reports.  You will keep the HRIS current, maintain all employee files, handle the coding and managing of the AP process for HR invoices, manage the Town's drivers' licence abstract process, and liaise with FOI for the HR department.
Qualifications:
  • minimum Grade 12 diploma (post secondary education an asset)
  • five years' related experience
  • familiarity working in a unionized environment
  • computer proficiency and understanding of the HRIS database
  • solid mathematical skills
  • ability to provide a current criminal reference check satisfactory to the Town of Ajax

Job Title:  part time skateboard instructor
Department: Recreation & Culture
Job Description:
  • to plan and implement safe, enjoyable instructional workshops
  • to ensure proper equipment is worn (both participants and instructor) while participating
  • maintain ongoing and effective communications with parent, public, co-workers and supervisor
  • to assume full responsibility for assigned classes and report frequently to supervisor
  • to plan and prepare for classes including a variety of activities to develop skills in outlined areas, which ensure a high level of safety and quality
  • to ensure the safe arrival and departure of children from each class
  • to ensure park users are aware of and abiding by posted park rules
  • to promote an environment of safety and respect among users of the facilities
  • to ensure that all required organizational and administrative duties are completed in a timely manner
  • to inspect equipment at the parks and report any damage to supervisor immediately
  • to assist with general maintenance of the parks (sweeping, litter control, etc.)
  • to handle concerns, complaints and suggestions from the public in a professional manner (as per customer feedback policy) and pass these along to supervisor
  • to report all injuries of any participants, staff or property damage to supervisor and fill out applicable accident/incident, property damage or WSIB forms immediately

Job Title:  CAMP COUNSELLOR
Department: Recreation & Culture
Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Camp Supervisor, the Camp Counsellor is responsible to plan and implement a safe and varied program of activities for children (ages and programming depends on each specific camp).

  • Plan, develop and implement a safe, enjoyable and diversified camp program (including special event and theme days) under the supervision of the Camp Director and Camp Supervisor
  • Ensure the safety and well being of your assigned camper group, as well as other campers during camp hours
  • Work cooperatively and maintain ongoing and effective communication with participants, parents, staff, Camp Director, Camp Supervisor and Community Recreation Coordinator.
    Abide by and maintain corporate and camp policies and procedures and act in a professional manner at all times
  • Ensure that the necessary equipment and supplies are available, and that equipment and supplies are maintained in safe conditions
  • To be responsible for your own camper group while at camp, on buses, at the pool and during special events
  • To ensure that your camper attendance sheets are accurately completed every morning and submitted to the appropriate supervisor
  • Take appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems and emergencies, as outlined in the departmental policies and procedures
  • Perform administrative tasks necessary to support the camp program
  • Encourage and foster in all campers the 5 Principles of Healthy Child Development outlined by HIGH FIVE: Quality At Play.
Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age before the start of employment
  • Provide a current Criminal Reference Check  (dated not prior to December 2009) 
  • Provide proof of High Five  - Principles of Healthy Child Development Certification
  • Provide proof of Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification
