University of Ontario Institute of Technology


Durham Region is fortunate to be the home of Canada’s newest university - the University of Ontario Institue of Technology.
  • UOIT opened its doors to its first students in September 2003 and is currently enjoying enrollment levels well above the provincial averages.
  • Less than a twenty minute drive from Ajax, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology is the centre of business-based research.
  • UOIT is mandated by its charter to address the needs of businesses.
  • One way in which the University accomplishes this mandate is through the development of an innovative Integrated Manufacturing Centre where business and education come together.

Durham College

J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate & Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School

  • The Ajax Multi-Use School Project combines the high schools of J. Clarke Richardson Collegiate and Notre Dame Catholic Secondary School.
  • J. Clarke Richardson occupies the southern portion of the site while Notre Dame occupies the northern portion of the site. 
  • Both schools share facilities in the centre that includes a 500 seat assembly space, a food court that can seat 1,000 people and an outdoor sports field. 
  • The complex accommodates 3,000 students and staff in over 365,000 square feet of built gross floor area.
