Ajax is home to the 144 bed Rouge Valley Ajax-Pickering Hospital. The Hospital is part of the Rouge Valley Health System that consists of five community health sites, including two hospitals. Collectively these sites are made up of more than 300 general practitioners, 180 specialist physicians, 1,200 registered nurses, plus many other professionals, who provide care for a full range of health problems, from pediatric to geriatric care. Both hospitals have round-the-clock emergency departments. Of additional note, there is a planned $59M expansion for the Rouge Valley Ajax-Pickering hospital that will include a new emergency department and renovated space.
The Ajax Fire Service was established in 1941 to safeguard the lives and property of persons who live, work and visit in our community from any occurrences with prompt, courteous and efficient service. The Fire Service provides a range of basic and highly specialized services through education, prevention, training, suppression and public relations.
