Library
WelcomeThe Ajax Public Library actively provides links between our community's information and recreational needs and a spectrum of resources. We have a distinguished history, beginning in 1891, with the Mechanics Institute Library in Pickering Village. Currently, three branches provide community access to diverse collections, Internet computers, children’s programs and meeting space. This Web site provides a virtual branch allowing you to search the Library Catalogue and conduct research from the comfort of your home or office. @ your library What's On For a complete list of upcoming programs for adults and children including storytime, check out the What's On section of the Web site. When in the Library pick up a copy of Pages our monthly newsletter. The November/December issue is your bimonthly guide to the program activity and recommended reads at Ajax Library Services.
The McLean Branch Library joins Ajax Library Services's Main Branch as a WiFi Hotspot. Both libraries offer free wireless Internet access. Anyone with a laptop or handheld device equipped with a wireless card can connect to the Internet through wireless access points on each floor of the Main Branch Library and within the McLean Branch. Complete information about this service is available at all public service desks or in the Wireless Access Guide. Battle of the Books Battle of the Books features teams from local schools at the 4/5/6 level and the 7 & 8 level. The top three teams from each division go on to the Final Battle to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals. The gold medal winners are awarded a trophy for their school and go on to compete in the Regional Championship.
